Google Pixel Spotify App Won't Come Up

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on September 14, 2020) follows:

It is customary for Google to release a new stable version of the popular Android OS at around this time every year. Android 11 is this year’s edition and despite having been around for months, only Pixel devices have received the stable version so far.

IST 11:02 am: Google Pixel users on the stable version of Android 11 have spotted another major bug. A new report suggests that the recent apps screen appears to be broken. A swipe up and hold from the homescreen just displays a bouncy animation. I had the same issue yesterday and today also (pixel 3). Music played and it wasn't showing any apps open, or the Spotify music player in the notification screen. After I opened Spotify and hit 'play' and 'pause' it stopped. I also rebooted my phone. Unfortunately it happened again this morning. Don't know what else to try. I recently bought Pixel and the only disappointing thing is the GooglePlay Music app - sometimes songs are skipped to next without finishing playing the first one and when on the move, after a while songs just stop playing. As much as liked GooglePlay I will have to switch to Spotify.

Spotify won't appear on lock screen pixel 3 1 Recommended Answer 38 Replies. I made the switch from iPhone to Google Pixel. One of the things i found convenient about the iPhone was that i could listen to music on Spotify and the songs would appear on my lock screen for easy access to changing or pausing a song. Long press on the Spotify. (I'm refering to the mobile app here) When exploring new music I am the type of person to only really play an artist's top songs. I can't help but wonder how many amazing songs I've missed out on simply because they weren't shown on an artist's home page. This is an issue with Google not Spotify FYI. Try doing the following: Go to your device's main Settings menu, then touch Apps All Google Play services. Press 'Force Stop' then 'Clear Data' Do the Same for Google Play Store & Google Service Framework; Restart your device; Open Play store and try again. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same WiFi as your Google device. Open the Google Home app. Tap Account in the top-right. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google Home or Google Nest device. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account. Back on the home screen, tap + in the top-left, then Music and audio. Select Spotify and tap Link Account, then Log in to Spotify.

A handful of other non-Pixel devices are also in line to receive the stable update to Android 11 in the coming weeks, among them OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro, just to name but a few.

Of course, a huge chunk of eligible devices from various vendors and those locked to carriers around the world will have to wait until later this year or even in 2021. Nothing surprising here, unless you are new to Android.

Something else that is also not surprising as far as not just Android, but software in general, is concerned, is the presence of unwanted guests. After every major OS update, various bugs, issues, and problems are bound to pop up here and there.

Android 11 update is no different – so expect a reasonable number of Android 11 bugs, issues, and problems.

Some bugs/issues/problems get acknowledged almost immediately and bug-fixing updates pushed sooner than later where applicable. Others could take weeks or even months to get attention from OEMs.

In this article, we keep track of these developments (but only related to stable Android 11 builds) and let you know the status as and when there are any new updates from responsible parties.
