If you can’t download or update any apps, including free apps, and you see a message about billing or payment, learn what to do.
IMusic has a pivotal role in downloading music to iPhone. With the help of the Discover feature built into the program, a user gains an added advantage of searching for their favorite song or artist from the large collection offered by Spotify. Close the Podcast app and restart your iOS device. Open the Podcast app and try to refresh and see if it works. If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 10 and higher, you can delete the Podcast app from your device and then re-install the app. The delete and re-install process can sometimes solve the issue around partial downloads.
If you want to update apps, you can update them manually or turn on automatic updates. But if your app won't update or is interrupted while it's downloading, try these steps:
Device iPhone Xr. Operating System 12.3.1. My Question or Issue. I have a large-ish playlist that I have set on download on the phone app. So when I add new songs to it on the desktop app or on my iPad, it's supposed to automatically add those new songs to the download on my phone when I open it. I wanted to be able to play my local files on my phone. So I made a playlist on Spotify on my desktop. Put all the songs on it. I even chose 'Available Offline' on my desktop. Then I went on my android device (Note 2), select 'Available Offline', and now it's stuck on 'Waiting on Download'. If you are still stuck with waiting to download, I suggest you to uninstall Spotify once and then reinstall it again. After uninstalling clear your cache once again as shown above and then reinstall Spotify, then sign in and try downloading that playlist or album which you were trying to download earlier. Use the same Wifi network. 3) Sync the app you downloaded to your computer to your iOS device. The app should now have been installed over the wire. This method seems to be a lot more stable than downloading apps from the App Store on the device itself, but understandably, it’s also a pain because you won’t always have your computer on you when problems arise.
Connect to Wi-Fi
If you’re using cellular data or Wi-Fi and have issues with an app, try to connect to another Wi-Fi network. Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi on your iOS or iPadOS device, on your Mac, or on your Apple Watch.
To check your Wi-Fi connection, try streaming a video from the Internet to see if it loads quickly. Or contact your Internet provider for more help.
Pause and restart the app download
When you firmly press the app from the Home screen, you might see options to Resume Download, Pause Download, or Cancel Download. If the app download is paused, tap Resume Download. If it's stuck, tap Pause Download, then firmly press the app again and tap Resume Download.
Restart your device
If the app appears on your Home screen but is dim or has a white grid with gray lines on it, don't delete the app. Restart your device, then go to the App Store and redownload the app. Learn how to restart your iOS or iPadOS device, Apple Watch, or Apple TV.
If you delete an app, you might lose the content associated with it.

You may have faced a weird issue when you try to update or install the iOS app from the App Store. The App icon is greyed out and shows “Waiting”; forever. Now there can be a number of reasons why the app is not downloading, but fortunately, there are ways to fix this. This doesn’t happen frequently, but just in case iPhone apps get stuck at “Waiting” when you try to install or update them, there’s really nothing much you can do but to cancel the download and restart it.
The problem is not uncommon though. There are certain cases where this might happen all too often. Network issues, not enough space, or apps running the background can all play a role in this issue. Whatever is the issue, we’ll find it and fix it. Just go through the fixes mentioned below.
How to Fix Apps Stuck on Waiting in iOS 13 on iPhone or iPad
Check Your Network and Re-Download the App
First off, if you’re on 4G/3G/LTE, you might want to make sure there aren’t network issues. If you’re on Wifi, check to see if the Wi-fi is stable and doing good. A majority of the problem of apps getting stuck on “Waiting” is mostly because there is no stable data network.
Note:Now you can use Cellular Data to download apps that are up to 200MB.
Once you’ve fixed this, you might still have to re-download the app. Delete the app that is installing (hold on it and when it jiggles, press the “X” button). Reinstall it from the App Store again.
Space on the iPhone
Head over to General → iPhone Storage → and make sure you’ve got enough free space. This isn’t generally the problem but if you save a lot of music, videos and other app data on the iPhone, you might just run into problems when you download an app.
Also, if the app that’s stuck on “Waiting” shows up on this list, you should tap on it and click on Delete App. This will clear the download and you can re-download the app.
Close Background Apps
The other reason – not proved but suspected – is a lot of apps running in the background. If you’ve got a bunch of them running in the background, this slows down the system quite a bit. To solve this, go to the multitask switcher by double-pressing the home button and then removing all apps that are running in the background.
Spotify Waiting To Download Stuck
Once cleared, the iPhone has enough resources to process faster. Try downloading the app now.
What if this still doesn’t solve your problem?
There are a bunch of things to check:
- App Store is experiencing tremendous load: maybe it’s a server issue. Try again after a bit
- iPhone is low on resources. Reboot your iPhone
- Try installing the app via iTunes instead of directly from the iPhone
